1. Acceptance of Terms
By purchasing and using Checkmate Co’s services, you (the “Client”) agree to the terms in this Agreement.
2. Services Provided
Checkmate Co provides background check services using publicly available Canadian government databases. Depending on your request, this may include:
- Criminal history (Canada wide)
- Bankruptcy and consumer proposals (Canada wide)
- Civil court proceedings (city/province specified by you)
- Municipal infractions (city specified by you)
- Property ownership records (city/province specified by you)
3. Limitations of Service
- Our searches are limited to the jurisdictions you specify.
- We cannot guarantee completeness or accuracy of records, as each jurisdiction maintains its own system.
- We do not perform searches outside Canada unless specifically arranged.
- We do not provide legal advice.
4. Delivery of Reports
- Reports are delivered directly to the Client only.
- Once delivered, the Client is solely responsible for use, sharing, or disclosure of the information.
- The Client agrees to use the information only for personal reasons, or with their lawyer, or in court where such information is already accessible to government authorities.
5. Client Responsibilities
By using our services, you agree that:
- You have a lawful purpose in requesting the background check.
- You will not use the report for harassment, defamation, or unlawful discrimination.
- You accept all responsibility for actions taken after receiving the report.
6. No Guarantee
Checkmate Co does not guarantee:
- That all information about a person will be found
- That information provided is error-free (we rely on government sources)
- That the information ensures future safety or relationship outcomes
7. Limitation of Liability
To the fullest extent permitted by law:
- Checkmate Co, its employees, and its founder are not liable for damages, losses, or claims arising from your use of our services.
- Our total liability is limited to the amount you paid for the service.
8. Indemnification
You agree to indemnify and hold harmless Checkmate Co and its founder from any claims, damages, or expenses resulting from:
- Your misuse of the report
- Legal actions brought by the person you requested information on
- Violations of applicable laws by you
9. Termination
Checkmate Co reserves the right to refuse service to anyone suspected of using our reports for unlawful or harmful purposes.
10. Governing Law
This Agreement is governed by the laws of [Quebec, Canada].
11. Entire Agreement
This Agreement, along with our Privacy Policy, represents the entire understanding between you and Checkmate Co.

- Details about the person you are asking us to research (the “subject”)
- Jurisdiction information (city, province, or country requested)
3. What We Search
We only access publicly available government databases. Depending on your request, this may include:
- Canadian criminal history
- Canadian bankruptcy and consumer proposal records
- Civil court proceedings (based on jurisdiction you specify)
- Municipal infraction history (based on jurisdiction you specify)
- Property ownership records (based on jurisdiction you specify)
Important Limitation:
We do not guarantee coverage outside the jurisdictions you provide. Different provinces, cities, and countries have separate systems with varying levels of public access. If information exists outside the specified jurisdiction, we are not responsible for missing it.
4. How We Use Your Information
We use your personal information to:
- Process your request
- Retrieve records from public sources
- Deliver a report to you
We do not sell or share your data with third parties.
5. Sharing of Reports
The background check report is delivered only to you, the client. Once provided, we cannot control how you use the report.
By purchasing our service, you agree:
- To use the report only for your own personal purposes, or with your lawyer, or in court where such information is already accessible to government authorities.
- That Checkmate Co is not responsible or liable for how you choose to use the report.
6. Data Retention
We retain your records for [X months/years] for legal and operational purposes, after which they are securely deleted.

8. Limitation of Liability
Checkmate Co is not responsible for:
